Gaytri belong from a farmer family from North West part of India. As a child she developed her interest in farming and learned many things from her farther. As a farmer she never had opportunity to recognize herself a farmer because men were the one who considered farmer not women. When she was asked at her school what her does her father do? she proudly responses “he is a farmer” and when it comes to her mother she never said that she is a farmer too. It was very deep rooted in Indian society that women were never considered a farmer. That ignited her thoughts and she started working for women’s (her) recognition as a farmer.

Gaytri has two and half acre of land where she grows hybrid and organic crops. She also does demonstrations of new technology and seeds and transfers technology to farmers. Her farm is an experiential learning farm for youth and farmers.

She is currently working for a company in India named Samunnati Agro Solutions Private Limited. Samunnati helps farmers produce organization across the country meet the supply of markets. With aggregation, market linkages and advisory services, Samunnati provides opportunities for Farmer Producer Organisations to grow. Through this and customised agri finance solutions, Samunnati empowers Indian farmers while driving growth. As a Senior Manager Gaytri works for farmers producer organization’s capacity building such as completing their legal compliance, connecting with market, finance facility, digitization, assisting in developing their business plan and helping women in developing the enterprises. Her focus is to bring women at forefront in farmer Producer Company so that they can be future leader for their producer companies. In addition she anchors the Gender and leadership program for five states Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Odisha and Karnataka state.

She has contributed to sustainable agriculture in her community. She was elected as farmer friend being a farmer friend she connect famer with Extension and Advisory services and introduced farmer with latest technology. She has helped more than 2000 farmers to change their agricultural practices and save traditional seeds.

Gaytri was part of a highly select group of mid-career professionals chosen through the U.S. State Department to spend a year at a U.S. university to enhance their academic and leadership development under the Fulbright program. Gaytri is a member of Global farmer Network.
